 USTB Application Information for International Students

Chinese Language Programs


Program Introduction

Spring semester : February to June

Fall semester : September to January


Application prerequisites:

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport , above the age of 18 and under the age of 60 , have attained a senior high school diploma.


Application materials:

1USTB Application Form for International Students with a photograph fixed. Please visit , fill in the form and submit , then print a hardcopy to reference .

2The final proof of academic qualification or a certificate of study , must be original documents or certified copies either in Chinese or English .

3A copy of your language test result .

4One photocopy of your valid passport (passport type must be ordinary).


Note : Please hand in personally or sent them by post to International Students Office of USTB (the envelop must be marked “ Application for Chinese Language Admission). Incomplete application materials will be nor processed . Application materials will not be returned.


Application Process:

1Register your details on . Fill in the application form and submit .


2International students office examine qualification of the applicant.


3Within the specified application deadline , re-submit the erroneous/missing information.


3Print a the application form and attach a photo , submit Application Materials and Application Fee to International Students Office of USTB.

4International students office will send out the Admission Letter and Jw202 form in 15 days.


Application fee:

600 RMB in cash . Credit card any other currency would be not accept . Application without application fee will not be processed . The application fee will not be refundable .


Application period:

Spring semester : Applications for the limited vacancies will be accepted on a “rolling” ( first-come , first-serve ) basis starting on 1st November .

Fall semester : Applications for the limited vacancies will be accepted on a “rolling” ( first-come , first-serve ) basis starting on 1st April .

Registration period :

Specific time in the Admission Letter.


Tuition fee (per semester per person):

8320 RMB


General Curriculum :

1Class hours : Monday to Friday , twenty to twenty-four hours per week according to the different class types.

2Course setting : grammar , spoken Chinese , pronunciation , listening and speaking , Chinese character and so on.

3Class arrangement according to Mandarin proficiency : Instruction is divided elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. Students are arranged according to the results of the Mandarin placement exam after registration at the beginning of the semester. 

4Documentation : Students will receive a USTB Student ID card upon registration, a program certificate and an official transcript upon completion of the program. 


Medical insurance :

All international students must be medically insured though out their entire planned period of study . Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students on the day of registration . Students who do not have valid medical insurance will not be allowed to register .


Accommodation Information:

There are different types of housing facilities for international student at USTB.

Self-funded students are required to find their own living accommodation . Please note that students who live off campus must register to the local police station within 24 hours .


Visa information :

Students admitted to USTB may apply for your visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your country with your Admission Letter and JW201/202 form . International students who will study in China for 6 months are required to obtain “X” visa , which will valid for 30 days after you arrived in China . You must come to International Students Office and apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days in order to obtain a legal status in China.
