USTB International Student Wu Qiu Qualifies for 2016 “China Bridge” Competition

          One June 18 the 2016 “Chinese Bridge” Global Foreigners Chinese Conference Preliminaries (Beijing Division) was held at the Capital University of Economics and Business. The competition was organized by the Chinese Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban, CCTV, and 41 international students from 22 countries participated in the competition. USTB student Wu Qiu, from Bangladesh, participated in the competition, and the International Office representative Guo Kailin helped assist the students.

       The competition was divided into oral expression, poetry recitation, cultural knowledge, and a talent show. In the oral section, Wu asked students about their own Chinese dream. During the poetry recitation part, Wu Qiu chose Shu Ting's poetry "To the Oak", which won loud applause. In the talent show part, Wu performed a traditional Chinese comedy.

       After fierce competition, Wu was chosen to be sent to the semi-finals. Following that he was interviewed and asked what were his suggestions for achieving success.

       Competition Review:

   USTB has been participating in the Chinese Bridge competition since 2003, and each year more international students participate. In the 2013 competition, USTB international students Jacob was promoted to the top 100, won the CCTV and Confucius Institute headquarters / national Hanban co-sponsored the "Sixth Chinese Bridge Chinese Students Competition" finalists; Rui Jiangming was promoted of the top 30 and won the Central Television and Confucius Institute headquarters / national Hanban co-sponsored the "Sixth Chinese Bridge Chinese Students in China Competition" Excellence Award.
