Leicester Primary and Secondary School Principals Visited USTB
On May 23, 2015, the Leicester Headmasters Delegation began their trip to China. USTB Party Secretary LUO Weidong met the delegation. The trip was organized by USTB’s Confucius Institute and international office, with the theme of “understanding, development, and win-win”. The goal was to provide the headmasters with a greater understanding of China culture and first-hand experience with the Chinese education system, increase mutual understanding and friendship, and to help promote the Confucius Institute and its mission of teaching Chinese language and culture worldwide.
The delegation comprised of 11 headmasters from Leicester area. During their trip they saw a number of teaching and cultural demonstrations. During 8 days in Beijing, They visited the USTB Middle, Primary and Kindergarten schools, the Beijing Institute of Petroleum Primary School, and had the chance to sit in classes to observe and interact with teachers and students. They also had the opportunity to visit the Hanban (NOTCFL), seeing there the cultural and teaching resources centers. Additionally, the group toured a number of historical locations including Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace, providing them with a rich immersion into Chinese history and culture.
The Leicester Headmasters Project is one of the key programs being run by the Confucius Institute and Hanban. It helps USTB ‘s Confucius Institute to promote the Chinese language education internationally and expand Chines culture’s influence in Leicester area.
