2016 International Student Legal Forum Was Held

 

On the morning of September 21, the International Office invited public security to deliver a lecture on legal matters to the international students. Wang Jingting, of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau Exit and Entry Administration, and Li Xibao, of the Beijing University System Traffic Safety Committee Office, respectively spoke on Chinese law and traffic regulations. Deputy Director Li Baoming of the International Office also attended the lecture.

         Officer Wang Jinting spoke on the relevant rules and regulations for foreigners entering and moving through China, as well as topics of visa and passport management, security, preventing fraud, and the proper use of alcohol to avoid public issues. He especially stressed the importance of looking after one’s self in the context of adhering to Chinese law.

         Officer Li then discussed traffic laws and safety, giving examples concerning international students in recent years. His talk centered on discussing motorcycle safety, accidents, and the pertinent laws regarding the use of motor vehicles in China. He ended by asking the students to be aware of local laws and their personal safety.

         Afterwards the teachers from the International Office reemphasized the rules that had been previously discussed, and made it clear that in regards to motor safety and visa regulations there would a zero tolerance policy. They then wished the students good luck in the coming year.

         Learning the local laws and rules is an importance part of any student commencing their education. The International Office carries out a seminar teaching Chinese laws to international students to not only keep them informed but even more so to keep them safe.
