President of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid visits USTB

On Nov. 20th, 2012, Prof. Jose Luis Parra y Alfaro, President of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, visited USTB. Prof. Xu Jinwu, President of USTB, led a delegation from USTB that included President Wang Xitao, Head of the Research and Development Department, Prof. Ma Fei, Vice-Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Song Weidong, Assistant to the Dean of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Prof. Guo Kanjun, Vice-Director of the International Office.

Expressing his warmest welcome, Prof. Xu briefed the delegates from the Spanish University of the current endeavors of USTB, and placed an emphasis on the international cooperation and communication initiatives that USTB was engaged in. Prof. Xu expressed his wish to further these initiatives by forming more international agreements and forging new partnerships, thus creating more opportunities for USTB students to visit and study abroad.

Prof. Alfaro concurred by mentioning that the aim of his visit was to seek more opportunities to cooperate with USTB.

After the meeting, the two sides exchanged ideas on possible areas of partnership and approaches through which they could carry out this plan. Both schools believed that the promotion of visiting scholars, student exchange programs and cooperative research programs would be undoubtedly mutually beneficial.
