ASEAN University Network Delegations Visited USTB

On May 29, 2015, nearly 60 vice-presidents or international directors from ASEAN University Network (AUN) and universities of Japan and Korea visited USTB. President ZHANG Xinxin and Vice-president WANG Ge met the delegates.

President Zhang warmly greeted the guests. He said internationalization is the key strategy of USTB’s long-turn development. This visit will definitely promote mutual understanding and further exchange, and facilitate USTB’s partnership with universities of AUN. Deputy Executive Director of AUN, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, expressed that visiting USTB was an important part of the delegation’s Beijing trip, which is for attending the 5^th Heads of International Relations Meeting, organized by AUN Secretariat and Peking University. As a leading university in China, USTB has good practice in innovation education.

The delegation visited the USTB library and School of Advanced Engineering. The library’s rich collection and advanced information management systems left a strong impression on the delegation. At School of Advanced Engineering, the delegation saw projects of robots and aeromodelling. They highly praised USTB’s great encouragement and supports for students’ innovation, as well as the excellent innovation capability of USTB’s students.

The visit fully demonstrates USTB’s fruits of innovation education, deepens relations between USTB and AUN, and established solid foundation for future’s academic cooperation.

The AUN was founded in 1995 and comprises of 26 universities from the 10 ASEAN member countries. The objective is to promote cooperation between ASEAN universities through academic exchange, thus strengthening human resources development. USTB’s representatives attended the 2^nd ASEAN-China Rectors’ Conference in Hanoi in 2007 and the 3^rd ASEAN-China Rectors’ Conference in Malaysia in 2010.
