In a meeting between opposing hemispheres, the USTB played host to representatives from Colombia with the intentions of further developing relations with the nation.
On April 13th, a delegation of 12 members of the Francisco de Paula Santander University and various companies in Columbia visited USTB, led by Prof. Hector Miguel Parral Lopez, President of Francisco de Paula Santander University. Prof. Luo Weidong, Chancellor of USTB, and Prof. Wang Ge, Director of the International Office, were on hand to meet with the delegation and show their visitors around campus.
Prof. Luo presented an overview of the teaching and education methods employed by USTB, as well as its past, present and future in scientific research, disciplinary construction and international communication. Prof. Luo placed an emphasis on the achievements made by USTB in the domain of materials science and engineering, a primary concern of the delegation.
Prof. Hector, expressed his sincere thanks for the hospitality of USTB and mentioned that since FPSU has also rooted its strength in the field of engineering he was looking forward to developing a close working relationship with USTB down the road. Prof. Hector expected that more students from FPSU will be able to benefit from an exchange program between the schools and by furthering their studies at USTB. The visit concluded with an exchange of views on cooperative fields and approaches followed by a visit to the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials.
