USTB Hosts IScIDE 2013

From July 31st to Aug. 2nd, the 2013 International Conference on Intelligence Science and Big Data Engineering (IScIDE 2013) was held at COFCO LDC. Over 100 scholars and experts from more than 40 prestigious universities, including Johns Hopkins University, Tsinghua University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Taiwan University, attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Prof. Sun Changyin, president of the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering of USTB. USTB Chancellor LuoWeidong and Dr. Xu Lei, chairman of the conference, delivered welcome speeches.

Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, president of Tsinghua University’s Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences, and CAS National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences Director Guo Lei made speeches titled respectively “Theoretical Computer Science: On the Road to Interdisciplinarity” and “Uncertainty andFeedback:Some Fundamental Theorems”.

The conference is held with the objectivesoffacilitating communications between experts in the field of intelligence science and big data engineering, displaying cutting-edge research achievements, and leavingan expanding group of young scholars engaged in the field of information science.
