On Dec. 23th, 2011, “Flight of The Loong”–anevening party in celebration of theNew Year–was successfully held on the fourth floor of Wan XiuCafeteria, sponsored by the International Office.
Leaders and professors who attended this ceremony were: Prof. LuoWeidong, Chancellor of USTB, Prof. XuJinwu, President of USTB, Prof. XieHui, Vice-Chancellor of USTB, and Vice-Presidents of USTB:Prof. QuanLiangzhu, Prof. Zhang Xinxin, Prof. Zhang Yue, Prof. Wu Dekun, Prof. Sun Dongbai and Prof. Wang Weicai.
The soiree started with an elegant Chinese traditional dance performed by USTB Artistic Troupe.
School leaders conveyed their best festive regards in different languages: Chinese, English, French and German, and wished that international students could attain higher academic achievements in the coming year. They raised their glasses to commemorate the past year and to embrace the new.
With their most sincere festive wishes, LuoEnjun, a Mongolia international student, and Liang Weishan, one of the top ten contestants in the 2010 USTB Singer Contest, co-performed a Chinese New Year Song – “Kung Hei Fat Choy”, meaning wishing you prosperity and wealth.
International students were singing “Chinese Masques”, a song of facial makeup in Chinese operas.
Prof. Luo and Prof. Zhang were bestowing the scholarship tointernational students.
The New Year Reception ended in a joyous atmosphere at around eight in the evening.
Being away from home, international students have experienced the warmth and hospitality as intheir motherland and were looking forward to the reception of the next Chinese Dragon Year.
