USTB President Visits Muroran Institute of Technology

On March 7th, a USTB delegation led by President Zhang Xinxin paid a visit to Muroran Institute of Technology.

Dr. Kazuhiko Sato, President of the Muroran Institute of Technology, gave a warm welcome to the delegation. Dr. Sato, spoke of the long history of cooperation that the Muroran Institute of Technology had with USTB, and mentioned that he could still remember his time, twenty years ago, in the department of civil engineering at USTB as a visiting scholar. He hoped that the cooperation between the two universities could be further promoted with the visit of President Zhang.

President Zhang acknowledged President Sato’s hospitality and gave him a brief introduction about USTB, emphasizing USTB’s efforts in going global and joint scientific research endeavors. He also expressed his wish that student exchange programs between the two schools would continue to grow after his visit. “USTB is similar to the Muroran Institute of Technology in many ways,” President Zhang said, “as they both are polytechnic schools that attach great importance to enterprise-university-research cooperation.” He hoped that his visit and the renewal of an agreement of cooperation between the schools could give a great boost to their cooperative programs.

The cooperation agreement, as well as agreements for academic and student exchange programs, were respectively extended and signed.
