On June 16th, a preliminary event for the “Joy Dancing Beijing” competition, part of the 2013 Cultural and Art Exchange Week for International Youth, was held at the University of International Business and Economics. Eight international students from USTB had the opportunity to take part in the competition.
Co-hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China Education Television Association, the Beijing Committee of China’s Communist Youth League and theForeign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, the official“Joy Dancing Beijing” competitionwill take place in Beijing from August 6th to August 10th.
Performances by international students are also included in the competition to promote exchangesbetween youth from China and those from around the world. Five awards are up for grabs for the participants, including the Outstanding Talent Award, the Outstanding Performance Award, the Best Group Award, the Best Singer Award and the Best Dancing Award. Another twelve performers will be given Excellent Performance Awards. Five universities will also have the chance of winning the award of“Excellent Organizer.”
USTB had a successful experience in the preliminary competition, with Ilave Jacob winning the Outstanding Performance Award by singing “In My Singing.”Meanwhile, GaripovaIlgiza and AkmamedovKurbanMuhammed won the Best Group AwardwhileAivaKakest, Junior FalesefulaLepule and Ah Kuoi Patrick won the Best Dancing Award. The performance of its international students won USTBthe title of “Excellent Organizer.”
