Third USTB-DMU Confucius Institute Meeting Held

On April 21 the third USTB-De Montfort University Confucius Institute meeting was held at USTB. Attending the meeting were Professor Andy Collop, Executive Vice President of DMU and Dean of the Confucius Institute, James Gardner, Vice Chancellor of DMU, Gao Dahai, Director of International Department for East Asia, An Yimeng, Senior Director of the International Department, Zhang Xinxin, President of USTB, Liu Yaming, President of the Confucius Institute, Guo Kanjun, Director of the USTB International Office, and Li Baoming, Deputy Director of the International Student Center.

                President Zhang began by welcoming the guests to USTB, and expressed his pleasure at convening the third USTB-De Montfort University Confucius Institute meeting during USTB’s 65th anniversary. He then spoke about his hope the two universities would continue to undertake cooperative efforts in the management of the Confucius Institute and other endeavors. Next, President Liu delivered the annual 2016 report on the Institute’s activities, including Chinese language learning, promoting Chinese culture, exchange opportunities between the two universities, and the 2017 work plan. Afterwards the two sides discussed long-term opportunities for collaboration in student and teacher exchanges, lectures, doctoral training, joint research, summer camps, the establishment of joint laboratories, and sports exchanges. Also discussed were the financial accounts of the Confucius Institute at DMU.

After the meeting the guests attended the celebration for USTB’s 65th anniversary and scheduled events.
