USTB and De Montfort University Hold Jointly Organized Summer Activity

         From June 25-July 8, 2017, USTB and De Montfort University held a summer activity for students. The event was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at De Montfort University and USTB’s International Office. The aim of the activity was to expose De Montfort University students to China and increase their level of spoken Chinese and interest in Chinese culture. The meeting between students from both schools serve to increase relations between the universities and further promote the activities of the Confucius Institute.

         The visiting delegation consisted of 18 students and 1 teacher from De Montfort University. During the visit USTB organized activities for Chinese language learning and cultural exposure. Students at USTB take intensive Chinese language courses in order to prepare them for the HSK, and at the request of De Montfort University we assisted the visiting students in their preparations.

         In addition, so as to deepen their exposure to Chinese culture USTB organized a cultural exchange activity for the visiting students to meet and interact with students from our university. The theme of the activity was “traditional Chinese games” which introduced the visitors to activities they hadn’t seen before, much to their delight.

        The event proceeded well, leaving the visiting students with many fond memories, which they expressed vividly through written letters, email, directly speaking with other attendees, and even through the presentation of origami.
