Vice-President Wang Ge attended the 4th ASEAN–China Rectors’ Conference in Singapore
Vice-President Wang Ge was invited to attend the 4th ASEAN-China Rectors’ Conference which was held in Singapore from July 28 to 30, 2015. The theme of the conference is “Bringing New Strategic Thinking to Universities Collaboration: Challenges for ASEAN-China Partnership”The presidents or vice-presidents from 50 universities of China and 10 countries in ASEAN gathered together to discuss the new collaboration patterns of universities between ASEAN and China.
The cooperation between USTB and universities in ASEAN dated back 1990’s. In 1996, USTB signed cooperation agreement with Honoi University of Technology in Vietnam, which commenced USTB’s connection with ASEAN. Afterwards, USTB started its partnership with Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 1998. In recent years, USTB built the partnership with Pokhara University in Nepal, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and Bandung Institute of Technology in Indonesia. Currently, more and more students from ASEAN put USTB as their first choice of oversea study. The number of ASEAN students closely accounts for 10% out of total international student enrollment.
USTB will utilize the national strategic development opportunities derived from The Belt and Road Initiative and exert the advantages in discipline. USTB will continuously promote its international development by further deepening the cooperation with universities in ASEAN in students exchange, doctor joint-cultivation and academic collaboration
