The “USTB - Dundee Collaboration Office" Established

The doors of communication have opened up between USTB and one of its partners in Scotland, the University of Dundee. On April 20th, a delegation led by Prof. Malcolm Horner, Vice-President of the University of Dundee, visited USTB to attend the opening ceremony of the “USTB - Dundee Collaboration Office” and meet with Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice President of USTB, and Prof. Wang Ge, Director of the International Office.

Prof. Zhang extended his warmest welcome to Prof. Horner and gave the visiting professor an introduction of USTB, detailing the great successes it had achieved in its 60 years of existence.

Both schools have benefited greatly from their collective history of cooperation, which includes a double-degree master’s program. It was in light of this that Prof. Zhang expressed enthusiasm towards further cooperation in the fields of scientific research, teaching and education. Prof. Horner assuredly stated that University of Dundee attaches great importance to cooperation and communication with USTB, and that USTB’s exchange students have been excellent envoys of Chinese culture in Britain.

Prof. Zhang and Prof. Horner then signed a cooperative agreement and unveiled the plaque of the "USTB - Dundee Collaboration Office."

The "USTB - Dundee Collaboration Office" is the only overseas office that the University of Dundee has established and is aimed at further promoting communication and collaboration between the two universities in all fields.

The History of USTB - University of Dundee Cooperation

In 2009, University of Dundee and USTB inked a Cooperative Agreement, marking the commencement of a double-degree master’s program. This program has been extended from studies of science and engineering, such as information engineering, mathematics and physics, to include economics, management and law, with 54 USTB students currently participating in the program. In May, 2010, Prof. Downes, President of University of Dundee, came to visit USTB and was awarded an honorary professorship.
