USTB’s busy month of March, where it played host to a number of the world’s universities, concluded with a visit from representatives from the Ukraine’s Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports.
Led by Prof. Alexander G. Velichko, director of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine (NMAU), the delegation paid a visit to USTB to gain a better understanding of the operations of the university. The large group of academic ambassadors was composed of 12 presidents from different universities and institutes from within the Ukraine.
Prof. Xu Jinwu, President of USTB, Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice-President of USTB and Prof. Guo Kanjun, Vice-Director of the International Office, happily received their visitors and presented them with an overview of the 60-year history of USTB, highlighting to its achievements in scientific research, education, disciplinary construction, international exchange and, most of all, USTB’s accomplishments in combining theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Prof. Velichko went on to say that, as an old friend of USTB, he had witnessed the dynamic development of this school in the past 10 years and was deeply impressed by its accomplishments, high scientific research standard, advanced infrastructure, staff and facilities.
The two groups of representatives went on to exchange ideas over what could be done to mutually benefit both their schools and their students. The meeting was then concluded with Prof. Zhang leading the Ukrainian delegation on a tour of the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials and the Engineering Research Institute of USTB.
