Vice-President of Tomas Bata University in Zlín Visits USTB

On Nov. 9th, 2012, Prof. Ales Gregar, Vice-President of Tomas Bata University (TBU) in Zlín, visited USTB. Prof. Xu Jinwu, President of USTB, Prof. Huang Weijiu, Assistant to the President of USTB, Prof. Yin Yixin, Chancellor of USTB’s School of Automation and Electrical Engineering, Prof. Wang Wenbin, Dean of the USTB’s Dongling School of Economics and Management, and Prof. Guo Kanjun, Vice-Director of USTB’s Office of H.K., Macao, and Taiwan Affairs, met with the delegates.

Prof. Xu extended a warm welcome to the delegates. In introducing USTB, he highlighted the importance of international cooperation and communication, and his expectations of providing students with more opportunities to study abroad by deepening interuniversity coordination. Meanwhile he also stressed the importance of USTB’s mission attract more international students to study at its campus.

Chancellor Yin and Dean Wang briefed the delegates on the developments of the School of Automation and Electrical Engineering and the Dongling School of Economics and Management.

Prof. Gregar expressed his gratitude for the warm reception offered by USTB, and said that the purpose of this visit was to look for opportunities to forge partnerships with outstanding Chinese universities. Delegates from the International Office, the School of Technology, the School of Information and the School of Economics and Management of TBU gave introductions of their departments within TBU.

After the reception, professors from both schools had a discussion on the fields and approaches that should be taken in order to facilitate this furthered cooperation, agreeing that exchange programs of teachers, students and visiting scholars – as well as cooperative research programs – are measures that must be adopted, developed and implemented.
