Austrian Heads of State Visit China to Witness Cooperative Signing Between USTB and Eurasia Pacific Uninet

 On April 8th, at a ceremony witnessed by the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz, USTB President Zhang Xinxin signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the President of the Eurasia Pacific Uninet Professor Wolf-Dieter Rausch, which will further promote collaboration in education between China and Austria. Cooperation has enhanced international exchanges between USTB and universities in Central and Eastern Europe.

The attendance by Austrian President Van der Bellen and Prime Minister Kurz, together with several ministers and 250 delegations, made it the largest state visit in Austria's history. During the visit to China, the two sides issued a "Joint Statement on Establishing a Friendly Strategic Partnership," and agreed to further promote cooperation between universities and research institutes in the two countries and signed a number of cooperation agreements. President Zhang Xinxin signed an agreement on behalf of USTB with the Eurasia Pacific Uninet.

The signing of the strategic cooperation agreement will help USTB further deepen its cooperation with well-known universities and scientific research institutions in the Central and Eastern Europe region, leveraging on global quality education resources to achieve complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win results and boosting the development of world-class disciplines. In the future, USTB will adhere to the principle of “initiating cooperation, friendship and achieving win-win results” and serve China’s national development strategy. Through cooperation with talents from world-class universities, in substantive cooperation projects, USTB will enhance the quality of personnel training and scientific research of the university.

The Eurasian Pacific Uninet was established in 2000 to promote scientific research and collaboration between Austrian research institutions and member institutions in Asia and the Pacific region. With the strong support of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Scientific Research and the Austrian Agency for International Education and Research, the alliance has successfully promoted multilateral scientific and technological cooperation among 160 member institutions from Austria, China, South Korea, Mongolia, Russia and India. These exchanges including scholarships for doctoral students to study in Austria, joint courses, cooperative research, etc.
