University of Dundee Sends Delegation to USTB
On March 24, 2015, a delegation from Dundee University comprised of Jeanette Paul Associate Dean of the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and Course Project Director Fraser Bruce, visited USTB’s School of Mechanical Engineering.
Guo Kanjun, the Director of the International Office, and Zhang Jie, the Deputy Dean of the Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design Department met with the delegation. They reviewed the results of the exchanges and cooperative projects between the two universities, and discussed future areas for development including graduate programs, academic-exchanges between teachers, guest lectures and more. Following the meeting Professor Bruce delivered a presentation entitled “Making is Connecting”.
The University of Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design strives to encourage its students to pursue excellence in design thinking. Dundee pays special attention to students’ exploratory thinking and personal strengths, and encourages students to not only master computer models but also hand-crafted prototypes. Their teaching philosophy centers around having students engage in projects that have real-world applications.
