President of Sweden’s BTH Visits USTB

A Swedish delegation led by Prof. Ursula Hass, President of the Blekinge Institute of Technology, visited USTB this September. Prof. Xu Jinwu, President of USTB, Prof. Long Keping, Director of the School of Computer and Communication Engineering, Prof. Ban Xiaojuan, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School and Prof. Guo Kanjun, Vice Director of the International Office, were on hand to meet with the group from Sweden.

Prof. Xu extended his warmest welcome to Prof. Hass and provided BTH’s President with an introduction of USTB’s history of achievements in scientific research and education. Prof. Xu went on to express hope that the meeting between the schools would promote further cooperation.

Prof. Hass expressed her gratitude for USTB’s welcome and gave her hosts an overview of BTH.

BTH’s primary focus is on engineering and its IT majors rank at the forefront of the world. Prof. Hass also expressed a desire that her visit to USTB would result in a greater level of cooperation between the two schools, and a means through which the two institutions’ assets and abilities would be mutually complimentary.

The two sides discussed and reached agreements over more efficient ways of working together, which included the co-hosting of symposiums and students exchanges.

After the meeting, Prof. Hass and the other delegates visited the USTB History Museum and the laboratory of USTB’s School of Computer and Communication Engineering.
