Tata Group CEO Visits USTB

On May 16th, Dr. Karl Köhler, CEO of the European sector of Tata Group, paid a visit to USTB. USTB President Zhang Xinxin met with the guest.

President Zhang extended his welcome to Dr. Köhler, saying that USTB, as a research university characterized by metallurgical and material studies and closely connected to iron and steel enterprises, USTB has been very supportive of the national development strategy of transforming China from an iron and steel nation to an iron and steel power. According to him, USTB values cooperation with world-known enterprises and universities and has already signed an agreement with Tata Steel on establishing a joint research center and signed another cooperation agreement with Warwick University. He believes that all parties will benefit from their cooperation. In response, Dr. Köhler expressed his support for the joint research center project. Two sides of the meeting then had a detailed discussion on the field and direction of their future cooperation.    

After the meeting, accompanied by President Zhang, Dr. Köhler visited the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, the Engineering Research Institute of USTB and the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy, and communicated with teachers and students there.
