USTB Opens a Window into the World with International Students Cultural Festival

On May 11th, the “Open a Window Into the World” 2013 USTB International Students’ Cultural Festival was held on the USTB campus. The festival this year consisted of two sections – cultural exhibitions and cultural performances.

The cultural exhibitions, which attracted onlookers from over 40 countries and regions, displayed art, pictures and posters with distinctive national features. The representatives decorated their national booths, prepared food and introduced their country and culture to their visitors with great enthusiasm. Many Chinese students at USTB joined in the celebrations and cultural activities that were presented to them. Staff from embassies of more than 10 countries, including North Korea , Bolivia and the Republic of Congo , also visited the exhibition.

Meanwhile, the cultural performances continued to be the festival’s highlight. From 10:00 to 11:30 and from 13:00 to 14:00, international students presented over 30 performances of singing, dancing and instrument playing. The lively African dances, the graceful Asian dances and the ocean-like dances of Oceania inspired frequent applauses and cheers from the audience.

The International Students’ Cultural Festival dubbed ‘Open a Window into the World’ is held once a year, and this year marks its sixth anniversary. Not only does the festival offer visitors a rare glimpse of world cultures and give Chinese students more opportunities to communicate with international students, but it also plays a significant role in strengthening USTB’s connections with the rest of the world.
