USTB Organizes Taiwan Exchange Students to Visit the Great Wall

The USTB International Office, in cooperation with China Bank, organized a group of over 30 Taiwanese exchange students to visit the Great Wall at Badaling. This visit, as one of the regular extra-curricular activities organized for exchange students from Taiwan every semester, allows the students to visit cultural monuments and enjoy the majestic beauty of the Great Wall, experiencing ancient Chinese culture. At the same time, it also allows students to strengthen exchanges and enhance mutual understanding.

On April 2, as Beijing was experiencing pleasant weather, Badaling was even lovelier. The students gathered in the early morning and headed out to visit the Great Wall.

The students had long known they’d be visiting the Great Wall and so came prepared for the visit. Some even prepared graduation uniforms and took photos upon the Wall, making it seem that they completed a graduation trip in Beijing. Later, when looking back on their college days, the Taiwanese exchange student life at USTB over the past six months will still be vivid in their memory.

During the visit to the Great Wall, the number of visitors was great, and the road was long and imposing. Even from the parking lot and Wall’s entrance, the way was long. Some students had not yet reached the entrance and were tired and breathless, lamenting, “Still not there?!" Some sang in order to motivate themselves, and saw within the Great Wall a lesson, and so used their full body to experience and learn.

The purpose of the activity was to introduce the students to traditional Chinese culture and allow them to experience their roots. With a sense of belonging, it also provides a good platform for students from the mainland and Taiwan to strengthen exchanges and understanding.

In recent years, USTB has continued to promote deep-level cooperation with various colleges and universities in Taiwan. Our relationship with these schools has become increasingly close, and the results of cooperation have become increasingly abundant. The number of Taiwanese students who have come here each semester has increased. At the same time, the number of USTB students going to colleges and universities in Taiwan is also steadily increasing. In addition to student exchanges, there are also in-depth exchanges in joint scientific research and faculty.
