At the opening ceremony, Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice President of USTB, extended his best regards to all of the distinguished guests and presented an overview of the modern trends in higher education. Prof. Zhang expressed his wish for an all-round discussion between the guests over the theme of today's forum: "Cooperation, Innovation and Development,” with the objectives being to share the achievements and experiences in the globalization of universities, the cultivation of students and the contribution of universities to their respective national economies. Prof. Zhang said he saw this as an ideal opportunity for the academic community to brainstorm on ways to encourage student innovation in the global environment, to best develop research-oriented universities and to adapt to the continuous development of national economies, thus creating a more open and free academic atmosphere in the process.
