President of the University of Texas at Arlington Visits USTB

On September 22, President Vistasp M. Karbhari of the University of Texas at Arlington led a five-person delegation to visit USTB and were met by President Zhang Xinxin. The two sides discussed collaboration in student and teacher exchanges, and in the areas of materials, machinery, physics and business management.

 

 

President Zhang began by welcoming President Karbhari and briefing him on USTB’s development in recent years. He spoke of how USTB attaches great importance to working with UTA, detailing how the EMBA that was jointly established in 2002 had trained over 1000 senior business executives and received great praise. Additionally, USTB has sent over 40 teachers to train at UTA. President Karbhari thanked President Zhang for the warm reception. He praised the EMBA program and expressed optimism that the meeting would move relations with USTB forward even more.

 

 

Afterwards, deans from both sides spoke of the direction of international cooperation and research, and discussed how both sides would further collaborative efforts. Both sides agreed to carry out further cultural exchanges and research activities. After the meeting the UTA delegation visited the USTB history museum.

 

 

The meeting helped to strengthen ties between the two universities and lay the foundation for further collaborative efforts. Ma Fei, secretary of the school of mechanical engineering, Wang Rongming, dean of the school of mathematics, Yan Xiangbin, dean of the school of economics, Guo Kanjun, director of the International Office, and Dong Wenjun, vice president of the Materials Institute, were present for the meeting.
