Tata Steel India Delegation Visited USTB
On April 16, 2015, USTB President Zhang Xinxin met with a delegation from the Tata Steel I which was led by Anand Sen, President of Tata Steel Limited. The two sides discussed advancements in the research & development of steel technology and opportunities for future cooperation.
President Zhang spoke of USTB’s strong impact on China’s steel industry, including its contributions to the field of research and lots of alumni working at high levels in the steel industry, such as Baosteel, Anshan Iron & Steel, and other large-scaled steel enterprises. USTB is serving China’s development strategy to build a powerful steel country. He further stressed that USTB was devoted to serving the nation though advancements in steel technology, as well as engaging in greater academic and international cooperation. USTB strives to be a first-class research center of engineering, metallurgical and materials science. USTB will launch the cooperation projects with Tata Steel Europe this year. It is expected to develop the collaboration with Tata Steel India. Anand Sen mentioned that Tata Steel has over 100 years’ brilliant history in steel industry and is dedicated to be the showcase of value creation and corporate citizenship. He agreed that there are many possibilities for USTB and Tata Steel to collaborate in regards to joint academic and scientific research in order to create more value for global community.
After the meeting the delegation visited USTB’s State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy and the Metallurgical Engineering Research Institute, and talked with researchers in the labs. The representatives from School of Metallurgical and Ecological Engineering, National Key Laboratory, and International Office accompanied the meeting as well.
