Bridgingthe Strait: President of NPUST Visits USTB

 On Oct. 15^th, 2012, Prof. Gu Yuanguang, President of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, visited USTB. Prof. Luo Weidong, Chancellor of USTB, Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice-President of USTB and Prof. Wang Ge, Director of the Office of H,K,, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs met with the delegation.

With the hopes of improving the exchange of ideas on the development of higher education on both sides of the strait, Chancellor Luo, expressed a desire that, with both schools sharing a common specialty in engineering, NPUST and USTB could open up new paths based on the previous achievements and explore broader areas of interuniversity collaboration. Endorsing this proposal, Prof. Gu indicated that he would discuss, with his colleagues, means for how to expand exchange programs for students and teachers between the two schools, broaden the spectrum of the partnership, and, more importantly, to deepen collaboration in the dominant disciplines of both schools.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Museum of USTB History and the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, expressing their admiration for the developments and accomplishments achieved by USTB.
