Vice President of Manchester Metropolitan University Visits USTB

On the morning of October 30, 2015, Vice President Julia Clarke of Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) led a delegation to USTB. The guests were met by Chancellor Luo Weidong, Director of the International Office Guo Kanjun, and Vice President He Feng of the School of Economics and Management.

 

Chancellor Luo welcomed Vice President Clarke to USTB. He spoke about USTB and MMU have increased cooperation through frequent exchanges since signing a cooperative agreement. Presently the universities’ business schools are preparing to initiate the program of Masters of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) dual degree, and have arranged MBA students to MMU for exchange study. He mentioned that as China’s population ages it will be even more important to have professionally trained managers with health care knowledge and understanding social policy to meet the elderly’s needs. He ended by expressing his hope that USTB and MMU will engage in future collaborative projects in such area.

 

Vice President Clarke then presented on MMU and Manchester city, which has long been an industrial hub in the UK as well as a commercial, financial, educational, and cultural center. MMU, aside from specializing in business, is renowned for its art and design, and has also set up a college specifically to train students in care for the elderly. She agreed that the two universities would grow closer together and deepen their collaborative ties in such area.

 

After the meeting Vice President Clarke visited the USTB history museum and School of Economics and Management.
